The ENERDECA II Project has initiated stakeholders in the region of Nafpaktia, known as Lepanto by the historic naval battle in 1571, into the concept, principles and practice of creative tourism.
Research demonstrates that creative tourism fosters meaningful, transformative experiences that benefit both tourists and the local culture they interact with. While guests are seeking for authenticity and unique experiences, hosts are asked to be offer a diversity of local offers from art installations, innovative gastronomy experiences, or storytelling workshops. By participating local events and getting in touch with the host communities, travelers get to know both the 'self' and the 'other', appreciating the sense and the spirit of the place.
