Can gamification engage the youth in cultural heritage?
Its a rhetoric question. Yes, gamification is a powerful tool to inspire youth to engage with cultural heritage. By leveraging the mechanics of games—such as rewards, challenges, and interactive storytelling—gamification can make learning about cultural heritage more engaging, accessible, and fun.
A digital gaming platform hosts a game played at 16 geo-locations in the UNESCO-listed Medieval City of Rhodes and poses digital culture as an exciting opportunity to develop knowledge associated with heritage sites, locations, museums and collections, as it is the only process that can support values and meanings.
Given the multi-ethnic character of the Knights of Rhodes and the visibility of the monuments in the landscape, 5 interpretive spheres are introduced to inspire the comparison of the sovereignty of Rhodes (1306-1522) with the values of the European Union "united in diversity".
